IRTG1123 Guest Lecture - Prof. Dr. Elvira Mass

Professor Dr. rer. nat. Elvira Mass from the Life & Medical Sciences-Institut (LIMES) in Bonn kindly followed George Shakir’s invitation to Munich.

In her talk about „the role of tissue-resident macrophages in health and disease“, she revealed her deep interest in the ontogeny and functions of tissue resident macrophages, as recent work has led to a major paradigm shift regarding their origin. In many organs macrophage develop during embryogenesis and self-renew in steady state in adult tissues with little contribution from monocytes.

In her talk, she presented work from her post doc time but also projects that she is currently working on at the LIMES Insitute.

Prof. Mass is part of the organising committee of the 35th EMDS annual conference in Bonn to which you are warmly invited.
