Gabriele G. Schiattarella is a MD/PhD cardiologist-scientist whose research focuses on molecular mechanisms of remodeling in the disease-stressed myocardium. Dr. Schiattarella received his MD from the University Federico II of Naples (Italy). After completing the Fellowship in Cardiology (Cardiology board) at the same University and starting a PhD program in Experimental Medicine, he moved to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, USA. Dr. Schiattarella is leading a research group at Charité University Medical Center and Max Delbrück for Molecular Medicine in Berlin focused on molecular mechanisms of HFpEF, HFrEF and cardiometabolic diseases. His group focuses on defining, at the cellular and molecular level, how alterations in metabolism and posttranslational modifications (PTMs) modulate cardiac function and promote pathological cardiac remodeling and heart failure.
